New Student Orientation for Undergraduates
Congratulations on your acceptance to UNLV! We are anxiously preparing to welcome you and your family at New Student Orientation on January 8, 2009. Orientation is a one day program designed to help you make the transition to life at UNLV. Whether you're coming directly from high school, you're transferring from another college, or it's your first university experience later in life, you'll:
- Learn about your major and academic expectations
- Find your classes and learn your way around campus
- Learn about resources designed to aid your academic pursuits
- Meet with faculty and staff
- Meet other students and make new friends
- Find out about how to get involved
Encourage your parents to come with you. There are special sessions designed specifically for them.

Parking During Orientation
The best place to park is the Thomas & Mack parking lot on Tropicana and Swenson. On January 7, 8, and 9 a permit will not be required to park in student or unmarked stalls. All other parking restrictions such as metered, staff, handicap, and red zones will be enforced.
Things to Bring to Orientation
- Your RebelCard ID or state ID for check-in
- Comfortable walking shoes; UNLV is a large campus
- Copy of your class schedule for use during tours and to buy books
- A back-pack or shoulder bag to carry your orientation materials
